Brandy will need one additional surgery to remove the hardware used to help her heal. Brandy has been adopted and her Mom has promised to send pictures soon.  As part of Heartland's commitment to Brandy, we will be covering the cost of the surgery. In the past few weeks we have taken in several dogs needing extensive medical care. Please  help us fulfill our commitment to Brandy and the other dogs in our care.

Sweet Brandy was struck by a car and her owners could not afford the cost of her medical care. A quick thinking employee at the animal hospital treating Brandy suggested she be signed over to Heartland in lieu of euthanasia. One of our local volunteers was contacted and asked if Heartland could pay for Brandy's care and find her a forever home. How could we not help this little girl? Four year old Brandy has a broken left shoulder and left leg. She was transferred to a facility for  surgery scheduled to take place on January 20th. We have a kind volunteer who will foster Brandy through her recovery.

Would you please help us with Brandy's medical bills?  Donations may be sent either to Heartland or the hospital treating Brandy. Donations sent to Heartland are tax deductible, donations sent directly to the hospital are not tax deductible.  Heartland Golden Retriever Rescue is a grass roots organization with limited resources.  Heartland and Brandy appreciate your donation.

Brandy update 1/22/2010

Brandy's surgery went well and she is settling into her foster home. In addition to her orthopedic issues, Brandy had a lump removed from the top of her head. She looks a bit like a patchwork quilt, but all that will disappear in a few weeks.

Brandy update 1/24/2010

Brandy continues to improve each day. Funds are still needed to cover the cost of her surgery. Please donate.

Brandy update 2/10/2010

Brandy had a follow up visit with the surgeon today. He is pleased with the healing of her wounds and Brandy's use of her leg. She will have another check up in about six weeks. Brandy is learning some manners at her foster home and is enjoying playing well with the other dogs in the home.
